Obituary for Thomas Chaloult

Thomas Chaloult
HERMON - Thomas Michael Chaloult, 66, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, knight, and friend, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on October 7th, 2017, after a courageous battle with a short illness, and while surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born March 13th, 1951, in Caribou, ME, the son of Joseph Nivard and Anita (Hebert) Chaloult.

Thomas was raised in Caribou with his two beloved sisters, Sandra and Karen. Thomas graduated from Caribou High School Class of 1969, and Beal College in 1971. Thomas worked proudly for 30+ years as a pipefitter, instructor, and financial secretary for the Maine Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local 321/716. After retirement, Thomas put his excellent mathematical skills to work as a tax preparer, as well as serving as financial secretary for the Knights of Columbus, Pine Cone Council #114. Thomas was a proud Fourth Degree Knight of this council and faithful and longtime member of the St. Paul the Apostle Parish.
Thomas met the love of his life, Page, in the fall of 1972, while working at RA-Inflight Airline Catering at BIA. Married on July 10th, 1976, Thomas and Page built a home in Hermon and raised three beautiful children. Thomas was incredibly proud of his children, and was thrilled to meet his grandson, Carter Thomas, in 2013. Thomas was an avid sports fan, and especially loved football, basketball, baseball and hockey. He was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan; he lived for Packers touchdowns and proudly displayed his official gear and cheese head. His one unfulfilled wish was to visit Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Thomas was a Detroit Tiger fan, because that was the only game he could get in the county on his radio as a young boy. He also loyally followed the Bruins and the Celtics. Although Thomas dealt with many medical challenges in the last years of his life, he never lost his wonderful sense of humor or resilient nature. His favorite phrase was “It is what it is.” His family will try to live by that mantra.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Dunlap. Surviving in addition to his loving wife, V. Page Chaloult (Booth), are his son, Michael, daughter, Jennifer, and daughter, Cassi, and her son Carter Thomas Smith; sister Karen Gallagher, her husband John and daughters Sarah and Monica; brother-in-law Arthur Dunlap; mother in law Virginia Booth, brother in law John Booth and wife Floss; sister in law Barbara Goodwin; brother in law William Booth and wife Kathy; brother in law Scott Booth and wife Paula; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, sister and brother in-laws, and special friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Liliav, Dr. McGoldrick, and the ICU staff at EMMC for the excellent care that Thomas received in his final days.

Relatives and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor where a prayer service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the members of the Pine Cone Council #114 and the Pine Cone Assembly #339. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 786 Ohio Street, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to share refreshments and conversations at Parish Hall immediately following the service, Saturday. Those who wish to remember Thomas in a special way may make gifts in his memory to UMCOR Hurricane Relief Efforts or the Knights of Columbus Pine Cone Council #114. Condolences to the family may be expressed at
