MILO – Stanley R. Bridges, 85, entered eternal peace May 1, 2018, at a Bangor hospital. Stanley was born May 2, 1932, in Dexter, the son of the late Jackson R. and Barbara (Adams) Bridges.

Stanley graduated from Dexter High School in 1950 and retired from working many years at Dexter Shoe Factory in Milo, Maine, as the Head Foreman/Manager in Quality. He married his surviving spouse, Norma Bridges in June 1984. After graduating high school, Stanley served in the U.S. Army, in Alaska; during the Korean war as an Operations Intelligence Specialist. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Stanley was a fireman on the Big Delta Alaska Fire Department, as well as the Dexter Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was absolutely devoted to his granddaughter, Leila, step-son Arthur and cared for, respected and loved his wife, Norma unconditionally. He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power, strength and forgiveness of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing. He loved his friends, his grown children, family, church and community.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor, for their support and care in the final year of Stanley’s life.
