Obituary

Leslie Hamblen Ward, 79, passed away August 29, 2019, at a Bangor hospital. He was born October 7, 1939, in Southwest Harbor, the son of Franklin D. and Cora M. (Hamblen) Ward.

Leslie graduated from the Pemetic High School in the Class of 1957 and then graduated from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute as a machinist in 1959. He worked for 17 years for the Hinckley Yacht Company leaving in 1985. Leslie then went to work for the Boat House in Manset where he enjoyed working with his brothers Henry and Willie, as well as became a certified OMC Mechanic. In his later years he worked on various mechanical projects. Leslie was a man that could repair about anything. His vast history in all types of marine engines and application of how to repair things correctly in a marine environment will be greatly missed by many.

He is survived by two sons, Frederick Ward of Charleston, William C. Ward and wife Linda of Warren; a sister, Ingrid Wormell of Limestone; 4 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and many other family and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Mt. Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor. Gifts in his memory may be made to the SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
