Obituary

BANGOR – Mary A. Kelley, 78, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 22, 1941 in Bangor, the daughter of Francis B. and Marion E. (Gallant) Perkins.
Mary graduated from Bangor High School in 1959 and resided in the Bangor area her whole life while working and raising her family. She was employed primarily in the retail industry where she met many dear friends while working for Freese’s Department Store, Epstein’s, and Wal-Mart. Mary enjoyed traveling, bingo, playing cards, reading, and cooking, but her greatest joy was always her family and her time spent with them.
Mary is survived by a sister, Patricia Pinkham of Naples, FL; her three sons and their wives, Keith and Wendy Durrah of Hampden, Randy Hogan and Debbie Mitchell of Milford, Steven and Amy Hogan of Milo; six grandchildren, Heather Jordan and her husband, Steven, Abigail Durrah, Chuck Hogan and his wife, Nicole, Christopher Hogan, Brianna Hogan, and Allie Hogan; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Fickett, Madison Jordan, Remington Hogan, and Maverick Hogan. Mary is also survived by many close relatives and friends, including her special friend, Valerie Fleming. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Kelley of Bangor and a brother, Irving Gallant of Texas.
Mary suffered from some health issues later in life and received care at DaVita’s Boyd Dialysis Center. She underwent her treatments with a cheerful attitude and never complained. This is a testament to how she lived her life every day. The family would like to recognize those caregivers for their efforts. The family would also like to recognize the staff, nurses, and CNA’s at Westgate Manor for their tireless efforts in providing the best possible care to Mary and for the support given to the family.
In keeping with her wishes, the family will celebrate Mary’s life with a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
